Service Overview:

Newsservers.net offers Premium Usenet service at outstanding prices, some of the lowest prices in the industry. Not only do they offer low pricing, their pricing is offered for the life of your account. Unlike some Usenet providers that offer low rates for one or two months. News Servers offers Unlimited Usenet access with 50 SSL connections for only $12.95/month, which is almost 25% less then other leading Usenet providers.

Speed and Service:

We signed up for an Unlimited account with News Server which was a straightforward process. News Server’s takes payment though a merchant called USAePay. After payment was made we were able to select a username and password. Once our username and password were created it took about 5 minutes for their system to recognize our login information.

We downloaded GrabIt newsreader from Shemes.com and configured it with News Servers server information, but instead of using all 50 connections we only used 30. We loaded up an Ubuntu NZB file from the group alt.binaries.linux which was 560 days old. The download started instantly and capped out our connection speed which is 20Mbps. Once the download was completed we used QuickPar to verify the files, which didn’t have a missing part (100% completion) and WinRAR to unpack.

Customer Support:

News Servers uses a ticket support system and doesn’t offer chat or telephone technical support. We submitted a support case at 6pm and had a response by 7:30pm. Not the greatest response time, but not bad overall. We’ve had some providers that made us wait up to 48 hours for a response.

Usenet Service Overview:

For the low price of $12.95/month for unlimited access News Server’s is a great deal for Usenet service. Their website is user friendly. The control panel makes it easy to monitor your bandwidth usage if you don’t have an unlimited account. Unlike some services which require you to contact support to cancel, cancelling can be done from within the control panel, but we believe once you have a News Server’s account you won’t be interested in canceling.
